Salem woman, 85, killed in Lane County crash

ELMIRA, Ore. - An 85-year-old Salem woman is dead after her car went off a state highway and crashed head on into a tree, Oregon State Police said.

The investigation found that Gina Laracy of Salem was southbound on State Route 200, north of Elmira in Lane County, when the 2004 Cadillac sedan she was driving left the road and crashed head on into a tree Monday around 4:35 p.m.

State police said the car's airbags failed to deploy.

Laracy died at the scene.

Her passenger, identified as 36-year-old Jeffrey Jones, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, police said.
