SALEM, Ore. – A motorcyclist died after driving into an oncoming log truck on Highway 20 Tuesday morning, Oregon State Police said.

State troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 east of Sweet Home at 10:30 a.m.

After investigating, police learned John Harvey Weeks, 65, of Salem, was driving a BMW motorcycle east on Highway 20 when, for unknown reasons, he veered into the oncoming lane and struck a Kenworth log truck.

Police said Kenneth Keil Reynolds, 59, of Sweet Home was driving the log truck.

Weeks suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Reynolds was not injured.

A witness told police that Weeks was possibly looking over his shoulder behind him while going around the curve.

This is an ongoing investigation. Police said they will release more information when it’s available.
