Log truck operator killed in crash south of Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Oregon State Police say one person was killed and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash south of Monmouth Thursday morning.

According to police, troopers responded to a report of the crash on Highway 99 West around 6:50 a.m.

Investigators say Taylor Boquist, 23, of Cove, was driving a green 2002 Toyota pickup truck eastbound on Parker Road.

When Boquist pulled onto Highway 99 West, his pickup truck was struck by a 2002 Kenworth log truck traveling southbound on the highway.

Police say the operator of the log truck died at the scene.

Boquist was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Highway 99 West back open by about 2 p.m. Thursday. A detour was in place.

Police say they’ll release more information when it’s available.
