Eugene man honored as Oregon motorcycle safety Instructor of the Year

SALEM, Ore. – John Buckendahl of Eugene received the Instructor of the Year award Saturday from the TEAM OREGON Motorcycle Safety Program recognized.

"The award recognizes an individual who has distinguished him or herself through persistent action, example, diligence, inspiration and excellence," according to TEAM OREGON.

Buckendahl has taught 68 motorcycle training courses to more than 700 students over the past 6 years.

“John’s attitude underscores something we cherish at TEAM OREGON – that there’s no hint of ego anywhere," Aria Minu-Sepehr, the program's director, said in a statement. "This instructor is all about the TEAM and our students."

TEAM OREGON is a partnership between the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon State University, offering more than 1,400 rider training courses at 24 locations across the state.
