PORTLAND, Ore. - Speed and reckless driving were likely factors in a single car crash in Southwest Portland Monday morning.

It happened on Southwest Patton Street at Southwest 55th Avenue just as kids were waiting for the school bus.

Witnesses say the driver of the grey Mustang swerved while traveling eastbound on Patton Street and lost control of the vehicle. The car crashed into an empty lot, landing front end down with the bottom of the car leaning up against a tree. Debris was spread all over the road.

Another driver who stopped was able to help fire crews get the man out of the vehicle.

Patton was closed for a bout a half hour.

The driver was the only person in the car. He was taken to OHSU with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.

Portland Police and Multnomah County Sheriff Deputies are investigating, but did not say if the driver would be cited.
