COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. - A 22-year-old Cottage Grove man died Thursday when his car crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle Thursday night on Highway 99.
Dillon Eugene Privitt died at the scene, Oregon State Police said.
Medics took the driver of the other car - Brittney Faye Burnfield, 21, of Cottage Grove - to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with serious injuries.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. The investigation closed Hwy 99 north of Cottage Grove for 4 hours.
The preliminary investigation found Privitt was northbound in a gray 2002 Honda when he crossed into oncoming traffic. Investigators do not know why the car left the lane.
Privitt's car collided with Burnfield's Ford Taurus.
State police said Privitt was not wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries.
