Portlander and running titan Shalane Flanagan was seriously contemplating retirement a few months ago, yet she now says she's going to lace up for another race in the Big Apple.

Last fall, Flanagan became the first American woman to win the New York City Marathon since 1977.

Earlier this year she finished sixth at the Boston Marathon.

According to the New York Times, the 37-year-old runner plans to return to New York’s race at least one more time to defend her title.

The New York City Marathon runs November 4.
