Trophy won by in Oregon in first-ever college basketball title game on display in Phoenix
PHOENIX - You've probably heard it a hundred times by now: this is Oregon's first Final Four since 1939.
It's been 78 years since the Tall Firs of Oregon beat Ohio to win the very first NCAA tournament.
Well, Oregon brought that trophy to Phoenix with them for inspiration.
"We don't want a trophy just for getting to the Final Four," Jordan Bell said. "You want to win the National Championship to say you are the best team that year. I think them bringing that trophy really helped us out and inspired us a little bit."
"It will probably be a motivation thing for us to show us that we can make history and bring back another trophy," Tyler Dorsey said.
"Obviously it's a little bit different trophy now, but that's we want," Casey Benson said. "They were the first - and obviously, we're the second."
