EUGENE, Ore. - The Fordham Rams Softball team isn't exactly a squad that strikes fear into opposing teams' minds. But nevertheless, the Ducks still needed to beat them to advance to the winner's bracket in their NCAA regional.

The game started late at Jane Sanders Stadium after the Baylor and Long Beach State game lasted longer than expected.

However, the Ducks wasted no time in scoring right away. In the first inning, Koral Costa sent a single to center and Nikki Udria scored.

In the second inning, Alyssa Gillespie sent a single up the middle and Sammie Puentes crossed home plate, putting Oregon up 3-0.

Oregon didn't need seven innings to secure the win. At the bottom of the fifth, the Ducks were up 7-0 when Madi Bishop hit a single to right field, scoring Lauren Lindvall.

The Ducks defeated Fordham 8-0. They'll face Baylor in the winner's bracket at 2 p.m. Saturday.
