A multi vehicle crash is under investigation after a blue Chevy SUV was stolen from the World Famous Auto in Medford on Tuesday.

Jackson County Sheriff Nathan Sickler says, the car was being warmed at the time when a suspect jumped in and drove off with it. An employee followed the car toward White City and provided the information to dispatch.

At 9:21 a.m. a deputy spotted the car in the area of Corey Road and McLoughlin where the driver appeared to be involved in a "road rage" incident with another driver. When deputy attempted to make contact with the suspect he took off at a high rate of speed toward Crater Lake Ave.

A second deputy attempted to stop the car just before Vilas Road where spike strips were deployed but were unsuccessful in stopping the car.

The driver drove onto the unpaved median separating Crater Lake Ave and Crater Lake Highway and then southbound on the northbound side of the highway. Deputies ended the pursuit due to the suspect's reckless driving.

Deputies lost site of the suspect on Crater Lake Highway in Medford.

A mile away at the intersection of Highway 62 and Coker Butte Rd collided with a white Ford pickup with one male occupant.

The suspect was taken into custody.

Both drivers have been taken to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

A crime scene reconstruction team is on its way to determine the cause of the crash.

Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternate routes at this time.
