Sheriff located missing man near Oregon Caves

[UPDATE: 5:15 p.m.] Kottke was found near the Oregon Caves during his search about 20 mile out of Cave Junction.

According to JCSO, Kottke had made his way to a main road where citizens found him and brought him to a command post.

Kottke was found soaking wet and showed signs of hypothermia but managed to stay in good health.


[ORIGINAL POST] Josephine County Sheriff's Office are searching for 50-year-old Randy Kottke last seen on Sunday while searching for a lost animal.

JCSO say, Kottke was last seen 13 miles up Caves Hwy to the 4612 Road, 4.5 miles out the 4612 Road.

Kottke was with 6 other people at the time who had made it back to camp. On Monday morning they realized Kottke did not make it back that evening and spent the day searching for him.

They reported him missing at 4:00 p.m.

Search and Rescue teams continued to search until late Monday night and continued the search on Tuesday.

Kottke is between 160 to 180 pounds with medium length gray hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, green pullover sweatshirt with "fieldturf"printed on both the back and front, possible wearing boots or tennis shoes.
