Police: Man struck by pickup Christmas day in Roseburg dies, driver wanted

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Police are searching for the driver of a pickup who struck a pedestrian in Roseburg on Christmas day and then sped off. The victim died over a month later.

Around 6:41 p.m. on December 25, 2017, Roseburg Police officers responded to a report of a man being struck by a vehicle in the 900 block of SE Stephens.

Officers found a man, identified as 43-year-old Shelby Keeney, face down on the roadway.

Keeney was seriously injured and unresponsive to paramedics, the report said.

He was transported to a hospital outside of Douglas County and died from his injuries on January 26, 2018, police said.

Following an investigation, police say a lifted, full-size Dodge diesel truck, red in color with black wheels, was traveling north on SE Stephens when Keeney stepped off the sidewalk and into the lane of travel.

The vehicle collided with Keeney as he crossed the roadway, causing his injuries, according to the report description.

The Dodge truck stopped momentarily and then sped away from the area, police said.
