Police: Coos Bay man arrested after failing to register as sex offender at new address
COOS BAY, Ore. -- A Coos Bay man was arrested after a deputy learned he had changed addresses and not registered as a sex offender at the new address.
Sunday evening, a Coos County Sheriff's deputy "casually contacted a male riding a bicycle" northbound on Cape Arago Highway near Beacon Road, the report said
The man, 28-year-old Jacob S. Potter, was found to be on probation through Coos County Corrections for sex crimes.
The deputy learned he had changed residences and hadn't registered as a sex offender at the new address.
His probation officer authorized a detainer and Potter was arrested without issue and transported to the Coos County Jail where he was lodged for a probation violation only.
Police say Potter will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for Failure to register as a Sex Offender.
