Students 'walk & roll' to school in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Students and families from Douglas Garden Elementary School were "walking and rolling" to school Thursday.
Students were encouraged to "walk and roll" to school from wherever they live. A group met at the Jasper Yrailhead to walk the five blocks together.
This event is meant to show students the benefits of getting to school by walking and riding. Tthey go over safety tips, and it's a way to learn how to do things with their peers.
"If students can practice good habits at a young age, hopefully these habits will carry on later in life and they'll be able to continue this lifestyle moving forward," said Laughton Elliot-Deangellis with Springfield Public Schools.
