3 preschoolers suffer minor injuries in Tacoma school bus crash
TACOMA, Wash. - Three preschool-age children sustained minor injuries in a crash involving a school bus Monday morning in Tacoma.
Police and medics responded to the scene, at South 52nd Street and South L Street, at about 8:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a school bus, the Tacoma Fire Department reported.
Three preschoolers were on board the bus at the time of the crash. All three were taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma with minor injuries. They were on their way to classes at Mann Elementary School when the crash occurred, about a block away from the school.
Dan Voelpel of the Tacoma School District said the parents of the injured children have been notified. He described the accident as an "uncontrolled intersection collision."
Joe Meinecke of the Tacoma Fire Department said a car slammed into the side of the bus at the intersection.
The drivers of the car and school bus were not hospitalized.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
