REDDING, Calif. (FOX26) -- First responders go beyond the call of duty for many things, and a helping a pet fish was no exception.
According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, a father told his daughter that her fish "Grant" would most likely be dead when the family returned home after being evacuated due to the Carr Fire.
To the family's surprise, they returned home and found a note and a well-fed fish!
"Thank you CAL FIRE Engine 1489 and Corning Police Department for ensuring Grant the fish got a snack while his owner was evacuated due to the Carr Fire," CAL FIRE wrote on Facebook.
