CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Weddings are already memorable but an area photographer capturing a happy couple sealing their nuptials with a kiss left an indelible image.
Amber and Mike Jacobs had been best friends since they were teenagers, began a romantic relationship and eventually eloped. They separated and then got back together. The couple renewed their vows in front of family and friends in late July at the Colerain Community Center.
Amber had her two sons, 11-year-old Alex and 7-year-old Noah, walk her down the aisle as Mike stood awaiting his bride with a broad smile.
"I had my close friends and family there... everybody that was important to us," Amber expressed. "It's a proud moment when you have two amazing sweet sons that love you so much and will do something like that."
Lana Crutcher, who called herself a "newly, self-taught photographer who is still learning the ropes", was capturing as many of those emotions and special details as possible.
As the ceremony reached its conclusion, Amber and Mike went in for the kiss. That's when Noah chimed in with his funny reaction in the background, a look of sheer horror and dissatisfaction.
"I was more focused on the kiss itself than Noah at the time, so I didn't notice his face until I further reviewed the photos the following day," Crutcher, of Lana & You Photography, said. "When I came to this particular photo I could not stop laughing and knew I had to send it to Amber immediately."
"When I saw the photo I laughed for a good hour," Amber explained. "Noah is a sweet boy but his emotions show on his face. He doesn't hold back - he is such a character. He makes everyone smile. I asked him what he was thinking and he said, 'that my mom kisses!'"
Sure, kids say and do the darndest things. They are completely unpredictable. But in this case it wasn't completely out of the ordinary for Noah. And the result was a priceless snapshot.
"I still laugh when I see the photo and I know Amber enjoys it very much since it brings out Noah's very silly, outgoing personality," said Crutcher.
"This is truly my favorite picture," Amber revealed. "It will be framed and talked about for years to come!"
