Shortly following a registered 6.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Northern California, a tsunami watch was advised for another quake that hit the Solomon Islands.

According to The National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, an 8.0 magnitude quake struck the Island nation east of Papua New Guinea Thursday.
