Troy, N.Y. Police hold press conference on quadruple homicide arrests

Troy police addressed the media concerning the two arrests made in a quadruple homicide. The day after Christmas, the bodies of two women and two children were found in a basement apartment on 2nd Avenue.

Saturday morning, 24-year-old Justin C. Mann and 38-year-old James White were arraigned in Troy City Court. They're both facing murder charges.

Both men entered pleas of not guilty. Troy Police Chief John Tedesco says that he’s confident there won’t be any more arrests.

The bodies of 36-year-old Shanta Myers, her two young children 5-year-old Shanise and 11-year-old Jeremiah, and her partner 22-year-old Brandi Mells were found in their basement apartment Tuesday.

Police say both Mann and White have criminal records, and that Mann is on parole. 627 Hamilton Street was where the men were found late Saturday night.

Police say one of the defendants were acquainted with the victim, but wouldn't give any other information.

Troy police say it was the work of the Troy Police Detectives with the help of the NYSP Major Crimes Unit and other units, NYS DOCCS (Parole) , the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office and many other law enforcement partners that lead to these arrests.
