Police: Teen killed mom hours after she told him he couldn't keep puppy
A 19-year-old Lansing-area man has been charged in the shooting death of his 51-year-old mother.
Andrew Willson was arraigned Monday in 55th District Court in Mason on open murder and gun charges.
The teen called police just after 7 AM Friday and said he had come home from a drive to find that his mother had been killed.
Lisa Marie Willson was found dead in a bedroom of her home. She had been shot once in the back of the head.
Investigators determined that no one but her and her son had been inside the home the night she was killed and Andrew Willson was arrested.
The Lansing State Journal reports that Ingham County sheriff’s detective Charles Buckland testified Monday that Lisa Willson told her son Thursday evening that a puppy he found would have to go to his father’s home in Dansville.
The teen reportedly admitted to detectives that he took a .22 Magnum rifle from a locked cabinet and shot his mother while she slept. He said he then drove around for a while before discarding the weapon.
Willson is being held without bond. A preliminary hearing will be held Sept. 28.
