Looking to get caught up on the news -- fast? Here are five things that happened Tuesday that you should know about:

1. Monster earthquake rocks Mexico

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake jolted central Mexico, killing at least 119 people as buildings collapsed in plumes of dust.

The tragedy struck on the anniversary of a deadly 1985 quake, and came less than two weeks after an earlier quake caused 90 deaths farther south.

2. Trump makes UN appearance

President Donald Trump delivered his first speech to the United Nations General Assembly, using at times combative rhetoric.

Threatening the "total destruction" of North Korea should the nation continue its drive to nuclearize, Trump went so far as to call Kim Jong Un "rocket man."

3. Hurricane Maria makes landfall

Hurricane Maria made landfall as a Category 5 storm, thrashing the same Caribbean islands left in tatters by Irma.

The storm is expected to travel towards Puerto Rico, arriving at the U.S. territory as soon as Wednesday.

4. Holly Bobo trial continues

The trial in the 2011 murder of rural Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo entered its second week, with the state having called over 40 witnesses to the stand.

Defendant Zach Adams is accused of kidnapping, raping and killing Bobo in 2011, triggering the most exhaustive investigation in state history.

5. 'The Mad Pooper' strikes

For the past seven weeks, a now-viral unidentified woman called "The Mad Pooper" has been defecating outside a Colorado family's home.

The Buddes came up with the moniker after seeing the runner drop her pants in front of their house at least once a week.
