It is no secret that the bulk of Ivanka Trump’s merchandise comes from China. But just which Chinese companies manufacture and export her handbags, shoes and clothes is more secret than ever, an Associated Press investigation has found. Since she took on her White House role at the end of March, 90 percent of the shipments of her merchandise do not include public disclosure of the companies that sent the goods to the U.S., data shows. Ivanka Trump gave a speech in Japan Thursday at a conference on women's empowerment; the World Assembly for Women, sponsored annually by the Japanese government.

The White House adviser and daughter of the president is visiting the country at the invitation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the White House said.

In her remarks, she focused on female entrepreneurs and women participating in the economy.

Prior to becoming engaged in politics, Trump advocated for women's rights.

Author of a book called "Women Who Work," the former businesswoman has vocalized her desire to help women achieve professional success.

The White House did not answer questions on whether she would join President Donald Trump during his upcoming trip through Asia.

The president is expected to visit five countries from Nov. 3 to Nov. 14.

The president's daughter made an official visit to Germany earlier in the year and conducted meetings with foreign officials during United Nations meetings last month.
