    Two drivers seriously injured in Highway 99 crash

    MONROE, Ore. - Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff's Office are investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a critical injuries just south of Monroe.

    The crash resulted in critical injuries for a Monroe man, and serious injuries to a woman.

    At approximately 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, 55-year-old Lis Adriana Sorrell was southbound on Highway 99 near West Ingram Island Road. According to witnesses, she attempted to pass a vehicle and collided head-on with a minivan, driven by Eugene Francis Bilson, 78, from Monroe.

    Medics from the Monroe Fire Department extricated both drivers from their vehicles following the crash. The female was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis by ambulance with serious injuries.

    Bilson was transported to the same hospital by Air Ambulance with critical injuries.

    It was later reported that Sorrell, a Eugene resident, was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with critical injuries.
