BAKER CITY, Ore. – A toddler died Sunday from a gunshot wound in the Eastern Oregon town of Baker City, police officials said.

Reports came in about 11:15 a.m. of a 2-year-old child who had been shot at a home on birch Street.

The child was taken to the hospital and immediately transferred to a trauma center in Boise, Idaho via LifeFlight helicopter.

According to officials, he died of his injuries at the hospital.

Baker City Police has not released information on how the child was shot.

The Baker County Major Crimes Team is investigating the shooting.
