LACOMB, Ore. - A citizen spotted a cougar Tuesday morning in the Lacomb area, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.

"The cougar was seen walking on Shingle Mill Road near Snow Peak Road by a private timber company employee early this morning," Sheriff Jim Yon said. "The citizen’s concern was the cougar didn’t seem to be frightened by his presence and there are school children that wait in the area for buses."

Yon cautioned people in the area to be aware of their surroundings.

Anyone who spots a cougar near a home, business or other place where people might be in Linn County is asked to call the sheriff's office at (541) 967-3911.
