EUGENE, Ore. – The Ducks and Beavers are already facing off ahead of the annual Civil War football game. For the 15th year in a row, Lane Blood Center and the American Red Cross will host a Civil War blood drive.

With each blood donation, fans will get to cast one vote for their team. The team with the most votes wins a trophy.

The competition is fierce this year because each school has 7 wins.

Donors can also enter a raffle to win tickets to the game.

One of the organizers said this drive is crucial to holiday blood supply.

“During the holidays we see a little bit of a slump in our donors just because folks are out of town people have colds and that sort of thing, so this is a way, while we're all still healthy before the holiday season starts, to kind of boost that inventory,” said Casey Zerbe, donor engagement program manager at Lane Blood Center.

Nearly 100,000 people have donated in the past 14 years of the blood drive.

Oregon State University will hold blood drives on campus from November 14 to November 17 from 11 a.m. to 4p.m. at the OSU Memorial Union Ballroom.

Another drive will take place November 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Corvallis.

At the University of Oregon, the blood drive will take place November 14 to November 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Oregon Lillis Business Complex and at the Erb Memorial Union.

On November 19, the University of Oregon will hold another blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EMU.
