SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Several folks in Springfield were just wishing for water this Christmas.
A water main break is to blame on Laura Street as volunteer crews worked to repair the broken pipe on Christmas day Friday.
A city service volunteer says water was overflowing when he arrived.
"One of the street pipes burst down the road here," said CMS volunteer Jack Payson. "The ground started to rise and water was shooting out of the ground."
Experts say the process can take up to six hours, but water was scheduled to be restored sometime Saturday morning.
It's unknown if weather was a factor or if the pipe was just worn out.
