Sheriff: Eugene man suspect in assault that left victim with 'substantial head trauma'
DORENA, Ore. - The sheriff's office made a public appeal for help locating a suspect in an assault that left a man hospitalized with substantial head trauma.
Anyone who has seen James Allen Vaughn, 48, of Eugene or knows where he is located is asked to call the Lane County Sheriff's Office at (541) 682-4141.
"Please do not attempt to contact or apprehend Vaughn," the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff described Vaughn as 5-foot-7, 180 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes. He may have a beard or mustache.
He is known to frequent the Cottage Grove and Row River Road areas, the sheriff's office said.
Vaughn is a suspect in an assault in Dorena reported November 26.
In that case, the sheriff's office received a report that a 50-year-old man was hit with an unknown object and left unconscious in a driveway. The suspect reportedly almost ran over the victim as he fled, the sheriff's office said.
The victim was taken to the hospital with "substantial head trauma," the sheriff's office. The victim's current condition is not known.
Investigators have since identified Vaughn as a suspect in the case, the sheriff's office said.
On 11/26/2018 the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault at the 39200 block of Row River Road in the Dorena area where a male was reportedly struck with an unknown object. The victim, a 50 year old male from Dorena, was left unconscious in the driveway of the residence as the suspect fled in a vehicle, reportedly almost running over the victim.
