Shed storing athletic equipment at North Eugene HS catches fire

EUGENE, Ore. -- Fire officials reported multiple calls coming in about a structure fire just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

They said crews were able to pinpoint the fire to a track shed just south of North Eugene High School, at the edge of the school's track.

When crews arrived, flames were 20-30 feet high, according to fire officials.

Crews had the fire contained within minutes. They had to cut a few gated fences to get to the blaze.

There's no word yet on the cause of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The building is a total loss, officials said, and the sports equipment inside shed are no longer usable.
