ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Lance Colley has been Roseburg's city manager for the last six years.

He will soon say goodbye to the position, but not without some mixed feelings.

"This was and is my dream job," Colley said. "It was an opportunity that I was unsure would come along."

Colley started his career as the City's finance director in the early 1980s, then later worked with Roseburg Public Schools.

He says he's now ready for a new chapter in life.

"Spending a little bit more time in the community on specific things that really don't have anything to do with the City," he said, "but have everything to do with the community."

Before he leaves, Colley wants to finish one key project for the City.

"Certainly, opening up the library," he said. "We're going to do a soft opening at the end of October and that's a really important community project."

Colley will officially retire in February of 2019.
