EUGENE, Ore. - The 6th Avenue on ramp to I-105 eastbound will close for 6 weeks starting March 18, the first in a series of extended ramp closures anticipated in 2019.
The Oregon Department of Transportation is working to repair and upgrade the bridge and ramps.
"These are 50-year-old bridges," said Angela Beers-Seydel with the Oregon Department of Transportation. "We have plans, we know what needs to be done."
Some of the work involves seismic upgrades to help withstand earthquakes.
But for the next 6 weeks, the closure will impact commuters on the busy route.
"Folks will just have to go around," Beers-Seydel said. "The official detour route is to continue on West 6th, turn left on Chambers, turn left again on 7th, and then go up the Washington Street on ramp."
Beers-Seydel said now is the time to plan ahead to change your commute.
