Police: Suspect in Roseburg bank robbery captured on I-5 near Sutherlin

ROSEBURG, Ore. - State police captured a suspect in a bank robbery during a "high risk traffic stop" Thursday, Roseburg Police said.

The situation started with a report of a bank robbery at First Interstate on NW Garden Valley in Roserburg at 2:01 p.m.

A description of the suspect and his vehicle was broadcast to "all law enforcement working in Douglas County," police said.

Oregon State Police troopers spotted the suspect vehicle on Interstate 5 northbound.

Troopers followed the vehicle "and initiated a high risk traffic stop on the vehicle in Sutherlin," police said.

State police took the driver - identified as Dannie Alston, 60 - into custody. Alston was booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges of Robbery 3 and Theft 1.
