Police: Occupants of Monday crash in Eugene are 16-year-olds, driver deceased

    EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene Police Department has released more details on the occupants involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash early Monday morning.

    Around 5:02 a.m. on January 21, a pick-up truck crashed into a solid brick wall at the corner of 1700 Lake Shore Road and Ayres Road in what Eugene-Springfield Fire officials described as a "high impact collision."

    Two occupants inside the truck were transported to the hospital.

    Wednesday evening, police reported the the age of both male occupants is 16.

    Police report the driver died and the passenger is recovering at home.

    EPD said they anticipate releasing the names on Thursday as they are providing additional time for the family of the driver to notify other family and friends of his death.

    Fire crews had to use the jaws of life to remove the men.
