Police investigate report of cougar sighting in Junction City

Authorities urge you to call your local police or the nearest office of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife if you see a cougar. (SBG)

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - Police took a report of a cougar sighting Thursday morning on Walnut Street.

Junction City Police were unable to confirm the sighting.

Staff at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said Thursday afternoon that they had not received a report of a sighting.

Oregonians have been on high alert for cougars this year in the wake of frequent cougar sightings near homes and schools, as well as the state's first deadly cougar attack on a human in the wild.

Police in Ashland also recently shot at cougars seen on the Southern Oregon University campus.
