Police in Eugene arrest suspect in Wednesday night store robbery

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene Police captured a man accused of robbing the Buy2 convenience store on Olive and Broadway Wednesday night.

Police responded to the reported robbery around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday and learned the suspect, later identified of 20-year-old Marquel Djuan Cary, had entered the store and stole some items.

The female clerk confronted the suspect, who fled after shoving her.

Witnesses attempted to intervene as he exited by following him, attempting to get him to relinquish the property, but he pulled a knife on two of them and threatened to stab them, police said.

Cory was last seen fleeing northwest from the location.

Multiple officers and an EPD K9 responded to search when an officer spotted the suspect in the area of Lawrence and W. 8th Alley.

When confronted, Cory was not complaint and police deployed a taser to take him into custody.

Cary was lodged at the Lane County Jail charged with robbery, menacing and interfering with a police officer.
