UPDATE (March 19, 2020): The name of the officer involved in the shooting on Saturday, March 14, 2020, was Springfield Police Officer Eric Pardee, who is an 18-year veteran with the department, the Lane County District Attorney reported.

The matter remains under investigation by the Inter-Agency Deadly Force Investigation Team (IDFIT).

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Springfield Police Tuesday released the name of the man killed in Saturday's officer-involved shooting in the parking lot of a Best Buy on Gateway Street.

After notification of family, the deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Chase Eldon Brooks.

According to SPD, the suspect's actions forced the officers to use deadly force, leaving him deceased as a result.

SPD reported they were dispatched to the location after receiving multiple reports of a disorderly subject damaging a vehicle in the lot.

The officers made contact with the him, but he was continuing to be aggressive, forcing them to take action and use deadly force.

The name of the officer who was involved in the shooting has not being released.

The Inter-Agency Deadly Force Investigative Team is continuing to investigate.
