Police: Crowd assaulted man near downtown Eugene Public Library

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene police said a man is in the hospital after he was assaulted near the downtown library Monday night.

The Eugene Police Department said the man helped disperse an aggressive crowd that was tormenting officers who were trying to make an arrest.

Investigators said after the crowd dispersed, they attacked the man, causing head injuries.

So far, there’s no information on arrests. Police said all of the suspects are juveniles.

Police said the Lane Transit District is issuing restrictions to keep criminals from congregating at the nearby bus station.
