Police asks for public's help investigating shots fired

EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene Police are asking for the public's help. They're trying to find who's behind a series of gunshots fired at an apartment across the street from South Eugene High School.

The incident happened around 7:30 Sunday morning on East 19th Avenue.

Several people called Eugene Police after hearing what sounded like gunshots.

No one was injured, but police arrived to find bullet casings in the road. Pictures show damage to apartment windows.

Eugene Police Director of Public Information, Melinda McLaughlin said, "This is a very unusual occurrence to have somebody fire multiple rounds into an apartment building. It puts the public at risk, the residents at risk."

According to police, witnesses said they heard tires screeching shortly after the shots were fired. The apartment complex is right across the street from South Eugene High School.
