EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene Police asked parents to stay away from Cascade Middle School in the wake of a shooting inside the building.
No students, staff or police were injured. A suspect has been shot and killed.
Bills initially said the shooting happened inside the building. Lt. Doug Mozan later clarified that police believe the shooting happened outside the building.
Parents should stay home, Bills said. You can contact your child by phone or text, she said.
The school is on lockout. No one will be allowed inside. Students are locked inside their classrooms.
Students will be released through the side exits at 3 p.m., according to the Bethel School District.
"The front parking lot at Cascade is closed," the district said on its website. "The pickup point for students who are normally picked up by parents or guardians will be St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 1760 Echo Hollow Rd."
"Bus-riding students will be transported home at the regular time," the district said on its website. "Students who walk and bike home also will be released at the regular time through the side exits."
