Police: 8 women work together to steal upwards of $20,000 worth of jewelry
EUGENE, Ore. - Police are looking for information on an aggravated theft that took place at a local jewelry store on Monday afternoon.
According to a press release sent out by the Eugene Police Department, eight female suspects entered a local jewelry store dressed in shawls, head scarfs and baggy dresses. One of the females was possibly carrying an infant.
The suspects reportedly worked together to distract the employee by looking at numerous items, while members of the group gained access to the safe in the backroom and stole in excess of $20,000 worth of jewelry.
The group was inside the store for nearly 10 minutes before leaving on foot. Police did not reveal the name of the jewelry store where the robbery occurred.
There is no video of the incident, and police are asking for help from other jewelry stores in the area and surrounding cities along the I-5 corridor for information or video of these suspects.
Police believe the the suspects may have canvassed other stores in the area prior to this incident.
This is not the first time an incident like this has occurred, and there have been several similar incidents that have taken place throughout California.
