Oregon State Police have released the name of the driver killed in Wednesday's fatal crash on Hwy 199 near milepost 24.

OSP says, an initial investigation determined that Benjamin Saxby, 46, of Venice, Florida was driving southbound in a 2003 Kia Sedona on Highway 199. For an unknown reason Saxby veered off the highway and down into a steep embankment where the van came to rest about 100 feet west of the roadway.

Saxby was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.

Saxby suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel.

There were no passengers inside the car.

OSP was assisted by Illinois Valley Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
