Old McKenzie Highway closed following thunderstorms

Rain from thunderstorms swept mud and debris across McKenzie Pass Highway 242 on Wednesday, forcing the Oregon DOT to close the scenic route just two days after it reopened to cars. OREGON COAST, Ore. - The Old McKenzie Highway (OR 242) has been closed at gates on the east and west due to mud over the roadway following thunderstorms in the area.

ODOT is on scene aiding motorists to exit. The highway is expected to be closed on Thursday at cleanup continues in the area.
