EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon’s new defensive coordinator was feeling energized at the Ducks’ second spring practice of the year Friday.

Jim Leavitt agreed to leave his defensive coordinator position at Colorado University for a $1.15 million per year salary at the University of Oregon. It’s the highest salary ever for an assistant coach at Oregon.

If he can turn the Ducks’ defense around, it will be worth every penny. But, he knows there’s a lot of work to be done.

“You got to find the guys that are going to play hard, play with great effort. These guys are great guys. They want to do well, but you want to find guys that have passion for the game,” Leavitt said.

Oregon welcomed the public to attend their third practice Saturday at Kilkenny Field.
