EUGENE, Ore. - Lane County closed Mount Pisgah and 3 other parks until further notice due to unsafe conditions caused by ice on trees.

“We did not see enough thaw today to relieve the stress that trees throughout these parks are under,” Parks Manager Mike Russell said Thurday afternoon. “The safety of the public is paramount, which is why we are closing these parks until the danger of falling trees, branches and ice has subsided.”

Until further notice, the following county properties are closed to the public:

  • Howard Buford Recreation Area (Mt. Pisgah)
  • Armitage Day Use Area (Coburg Road north of Eugene)
  • Zumwalt Park (at Fern Ridge Reservoir)
  • Whitely Park (River Road area)
