Sheriff: Girl dies at hospital, may have been hit by passing car

[UPDATE: 12:45 p.m. East Evans Creek between Minthorne Rd. and Forest Hills Dr. is now open.


[UPDATE: 10:30 a.m.] Jackson County Sheriff's Office say, the 13-year-old girl was pronounce dead at the hospital.

The name is not being released until next of kin have been notified.

Investigators have not confirmed the type injuries sustained by the victim. They believe she may have been struck by a car or an item attached to a car.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Jackson County Sheriff's Office at 541-776-7206.

JCSO are also asking for anyone with surveillance camera that records traffic on East Evans Creek Road between the city of Rogue River and Wimer is asked to call.


A female minor was found with injuries on the side of the road on the 5100 block of East Evans Creek Road Monday morning.

According to Jackson County Sheriff's Office a person who was passing by found her, and deputies were on scene by 7:30 this morning.

The girl was taken to Rogue Regional Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.

Investigation is ongoing.

The public is asked to avoid East Evans Creek Road as it is closed between Minthorne Rd. and Forest Hills Drive until further notice.
