Man accused of breaking out windows in rental cars at Eugene lot

EUGENE, Ore. - A man arrested in 2016 on accusations he broke out windows at two Asian restaurants now faces charges he broke windows in cars at a rental lot in Eugene.

Bernard Shifman, 41, of Eugene faces charges of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.

Eugene Police arrested him at 12:45 a.m. Thursday "after he was observed throwing a solid object through the windows of multiple vehicles parked on the lot of Hertz Car Rental, 655 West 7th Avenue," police said. Officers took him to the Lane County Jail.

Police said there have been 6 other incidents since March 13 where a suspect matching Shifman's description was seen "entering the lot and breaking the windows of the vehicles, causing thousands of dollars in damage."
