Les Schwab sees outpouring of Holiday Toy Drive donations
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Les Schwab employees delivered more than 50 tire bags filled with toys to the NBC 16 studio Wednesday morning. The Holiday Toy Drive will provide gifts to Lane County kids in need this holiday season.
Four Les Schwab pickup trucks hauled dozens of bags of toys to the NBC 16 station. Each bag was packed with unwrapped board games, Barbies, and big stuffed animals – all ready to donate as part of the Holiday Toy Drive.
“This is a just a true showing of the outpouring of the community, looking at helping out children in time of need,” said Jason Gale, Les Schwab store manager.
NBC 16 partnered with Les Schwab Tires to make sure no child in Lane County goes without a toy for the holidays.
“It makes us feel great! You know, reaching out and assisting the community in something like this makes us all feel kind of warm inside,” Gale said.
The toys will benefit the Brattain House, Salvation Army, and the Relief Nursery.
“All of our families are living in some sort of crisis. And so just anything as small as a gift, a book, a new jacket really makes their holiday special,” said Colbey Carpenter, community engagement coordinator for Relief Nursery.
All gifts will go to kids ages 16 and under who are in need.
“It's a really inspiring reflection of our community's commitment to children,” Carpenter said.
The gift giving would be possible without help from the community and the toy drive isn’t over yet. The collection bins will remain at Les Schwab locations until December 20.
“Still dig deep; we still got a couple of weeks left to kind of have a final push,” Gale said.
