GOSHEN, Ore. - After 10 days spent in Southern Oregon fighting the Chetco Bar Fire in Brookings, the Lane County Task Force has returned to Eugene.

Dale Borland, Assistant Chief of Lane Fire Authority, says that his team worked through the night, getting on average no more than five hours of sleep over the ten days spend fighting the fire.

In his 39 years as a firefighter, Borland says that the Chetco fire is the largest and most threatening fire he's ever worked on.

Officials say about 345 structural firefighters are working to ensure homes and other buildings remain clear of any fire.

They say that the average number of structural firefighters to work on a fire ranges between 20 and 40 people.

Right now, the Chetco Bar Fire is zero percent contained, and fire officials expect to contain it by mid-October.
