Kids at PeaceHealth Riverbend visited by superheroes, Harlem Globetrotter
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Kids at PeaceHealth Riverbend had their day brightened by some very special guests.
Superheroes and a Harlem Globetrotter overtook the pediatric ward Wednesday.
Featured guests included Batman, Wonder Woman, Globetrotter Dizzy English and even the U of O Duck.
They visited each room and surprised the young patients with toys and basketballs, played games and showed them a fun time.
It was also a chance to connect with kids and boost their spirit.
"It really helped me see that people you don't necessarily know...that they care; it was cool. It made me happy," said Jaden Bellamy, a PeaceHealth Riverbend patient.
"When I was a child, I didn't really have a professional athlete come to our school or places that we were," said Globetrotter Dizzy English, "for the most part they didn't even sign autographs and things like that. So to be able to grow up and do this and have this as a job, it's an unbelievable feeling."
Both Eugene Comic Con and Harlem Globetrotters have programs that enable them to visit kids in recovering in hospitals.
