HOOD RIVER, Ore. – The Hood River Police Department is investigating a brush fire that started Tuesday night on the Indian Creek Trail.

Officers, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the fire on the Indian Creek Trail between 3rd Street and 5th Street, just south of Pine Street, around 10:29 p.m.

Hood River Fire Captain Manuel Irusta estimated the fire grew to less than two acres. He said it was burning just below the trail and extended approximately 100 feet down toward the drainage.

Officers and Hood River County Deputies notified nearby residents of the fire, but no one was evacuated.

Police don’t know the exact cause of the fire.

However, five minutes before the fire was reported, someone called to report juveniles were shooting off aerial fireworks near Horizon School on Pacific Avenue.

The caller said the juveniles were in a dark-colored pickup truck.

Anyone with information should contact the Hood River Police Department Detective Anthony Frasier at (541) 387-5257.
